Portugal Sunday now won its second Nations League trophy in the tournament’s brief history after needing penalties to beat Spain in the final in Munich.
With the game going to penalties after finishing 2-2 in extra time, it was Ruben Neves who converted the winning shot from the spot after Alvaro Morata missed his chance for Spain.
Cristiano Ronaldo scored the game-tying goal in the 61st minute but had to come off in the waning moments with an injury. He was all smiles from the sidelines he watched Neves decide the game.
Portugal won it back in 2019 and how have the 2025 title to add to its résumé. Along with its 2016 Euro championship, Portugal now has three major trophies to its name.
