Ajax have opened talks with Wolverhampton Wanderers over a permanent deal for Nigerian striker Tolu Arokodare after his impressive start in the Netherlands.
According to reports from Africa Foot via Fichajes, the Dutch club wants to keep the 25-year-old after his fine form since arriving in Amsterdam.
Arokodare has scored nine goals and provided three assists in 14 appearances across all competitions. That incredible tally from a new signing has given Ajax a strong reason to pursue a permanent deal for the former Genk ace.
However, the Eredivisie club has set a limit on how much they are willing to pay for the striker.
Ajax are reportedly unwilling to offer more than €25 million (about N37.3 billion) and want to wrap up the deal before other European clubs join the race for his signature.
Wolves are also said to be open to selling Arokodare, but the Championship club must decide whether to accept Ajax’s valuation or demand a higher fee.
Agreeing on the transfer fee is the first hurdle. Ajax have reportedly set their limit at €25 million, but Wolves could hold out for more. The gap between the clubs’ valuations could determine whether negotiations move forward or stall.
Finalising the permanent deal is the next step. Both clubs must agree on the transfer fee and other terms before Arokodare can make his move to Ajax permanent.
The Nigeria international, who is scoring important goals in Amsterdam, has expressed his desire to continue at Ajax where he has become a fan favourite. However, things can change overnight if a top club from Europe’s top five leagues knocks on the striker’s door.
Beating rival clubs to his signature could be Ajax’s biggest challenge next summer, especially if Arokodare keeps up his present goalscoring form.

Ajax are keen to keep the Nigerian striker, but the final decision rests on whether Wolves accept their offer. If the English club demands more than €25 million, the two sides could face a difficult negotiation before reaching an agreement.
