WCQ: Semitoje, Eboigbe hail Eagles, Osimhen, commend Chelle

by Patrick Omorodion

Former Super Eagles players, Isaac Semitoje and Sunday Eboigbe, have praised the team for their performance against Rwanda in Kigali in their race for a place at the 2026 World Cup.

Speaking from his base in Denmark, Semitoje commended head coach Eric Chelle for not disappointing Nigerians on his first assignment as head coach of the team.

“I’m happy for the team, they have kept our World Cup qualification alive. I told my friends who cared to listen that these boys are desperate for the ticket. It is not an easy thing to beat a team 2-0 at home, they have proven to critics that they have what it takes to have Nigeria’s flag hoisted at the World Cup come 2026. I want to salute Victor Osimhen specially for doing Nigeria proud.”

Eboigbe on his part said, “this is the first time I’m watching Super Eagles game without tension. Initially I was scared that they may shame us, but after few minutes of play I told my friend that the Eagles will run over Rwanda and that is what happened. So I commend their efforts. We have moved up on the table.”

“We still have three home games and two away games. I want to appeal to them to replicate what they did in Rwanda against Zimbabwe in Uyo. This victory against Rwanda in Kigali has sent warning signals to our remaining opponents. For Eric Chelle, he must not change a winning team. I acknowledge the strength of the Super Eagles, and I want to credit the victory to experience of the players particularly Victor Osimhen. Nigerians are proud to have these set of committed players always ready to do the country proud.

“For Zimbabwe, they will not escape in Uyo no matter their antics, Super Eagles will definitely over power them. The boys have suddenly realized the importance of qualifying for the World. In Africa, Nigeria Super Eagles is a force to reckon with, though it is not over yet, but I believe Eagles will qualify at the end.”
