NFF stirs hornets nest as Amoo fights back

The Nigeria Football Federation, NFF may have stirred the hornets’ nest with the denial that they are neither owing late former Super Eagles coach, Christian Chukwu nor any coach for that matter who was in their employ for any of the National teams.

Following Chukwu’s death at the weekend, the NFF had issued a statement condoling with his family and the football fraternity but former Green Eagles winger and former Rivers State sports Commissioner, Adokie Amiesimaka lambasted them, saying they were not sincere for expressing sorrow when they owed him for several months.

He said that “what I detest is the hypocrisy of the Nigeria Football Federation. I read somewhere that they were expressing sorrow. That’s utter rubbish, they are not sincere. Do you know they were owing him? Except he was paid recently, they owed him for years; his due reward for services rendered, and they have the audacity to express grief over his death. What a shame.”

In a quick reaction Monday, Secretary General of the NFF, Dr. Sanusi Mohammed on the NFF’s official X handle denied that the federation was owing, stressing that ““There is certainly no record of indebtedness to him in the NFF”, as he challenged anyone with verifiable documentation proving the NFF owes any former coach to come forward.

This has prompted of the former coaches in their employ, Fatai Amoo to say they were still owing for the jobs he did as coach of the U-17, U-20 and U-23 at different times.

Amoo who was former assistant coach of the Super Eagles disclosed to a blogger that “I didn’t get my salaries at U-17, U-20 and U-23 despite my contract. No salary or bonus was paid. I am lucky that all the work I did with every national team, I have my contract papers especially the Super Eagles”.
