Founder of the Adeola Ajayi Foundation, Adeola Ajayi has unveiled a newly constructed multi-million naira basketball court in Sango Otta, Ogun State. Hundreds of kids ranging from ages 4 -17 attending the annual AOA Basketball camp were ecstatic and could not hide their excitement as they praised the former Nigeria basketball player for his dedication and commitment to impacting positively on the lives of the people.
Apart from the playing court, the facility comprises of a sitting stand, blocks of offices and dressing rooms with a conference hall.
Ajayi said, “every year we host basketball camp here in Otta. The camp offers expert coaching, proper equipment, meals, and a safe, supportive environment for skill development.
“We use the power of basketball to foster confidence, discipline and opportunity in children who need it most. By providing essential resources—such as proper equipment, safe facilities and mentorship—beyond basketball, we help young people develop life skills that will serve them both on and off the court.”
One of the coaches Ogunadesola Somala said, “It is a great one, It came to us as a surprise because we thought we were still going to use the former place for the camp. We need to maintain this facility.”
On his part, Ajayi said he was blown away by the level of enthusiasm by the kids. “This camp began at 8am but these kids have been here since 6 am, with some of them training outside the gate. They have been phenomenal”
Continuing, he said, “there is still more to do. This is just the beginning. We expect to expand this place in future so that we can accommodate more kids. The kids need this for their future.”
