Nigeria’s D’Tigresses Saturday continued their winning streak as a dominant force in Afrobasket Championship as they survived a third quarter scare from their Senegalese opponents to win the nerve-wrecking semi final at the Palais des Sports de Treichville in Abidjan to qualify for Sunday’s final.

The Nigerian girls started powerfully taking the first quarter at 22-17 and added the second quarter narrowly at 21-20 before the ten minutes break.

They however, lost steam after half-time and allowed the Senegalese run away with a massive 21-9 win but Coach Rena Wakama gingered his girls and propelled by Ezinne Kalu, they took the fight to the Senegalese players who started making errors and the D’Tigresses thus laughed last with a resounding 23-10 win in the last quarter to wrap up the game at 75-68.

They now await the winner of the second semi final between Mali and South Sudan which is still on.
