Nigeria’s senior men’s basketball team, the D’Tigers will battle Cameroon Sunday in their last Group B game at Luanda’s Indoor Sports Hall to decide the group leader and automatic quarter-finals ticket winner.
Both sides are tied on four points, having won two games each but D’Tigers are top because of their games point difference of 39 to Cameroon’s 24.
The odds seem to favour the Abdulrahman Mohammed-tutored Nigerian side as in head to head, they are ahead with two wins against one to Cameroon.
At the 2017 Afrobasket quarter-finals, D’Tigers beat Cameroon 106-91 and also beat them 91-84 at the 2013 African Championship. Their only loss to Cameroon was 80-84 at the 2009 African Championships.
Coach Mohammed would need the expertise of NBA import, Josh Okogie and the efficiency of Caleb Agada, Ike Nwamu, Stan Okoye and Emmanuel Omogbo to stop the aggressive Cameroon side that have good scorers.
