Nigeria’s senior men’s basketball team, D’Tigers have dropped 11 places to 53rd in the latest FIBA world rankings, slipping two spots to eighth in Africa.
This decline follows a poor showing at the 2025 FIBA Afrobasket in Angola.
The rankings were updated ahead of the 2027 World Cup Qualifiers, which start Monday, November 24.
The Nigerian side led by Stan Okoye would face Tunisia in their opening match on Thursday in Rades, Tunisia, followed by games against Guinea and Rwanda.
The team’s preparations are shaky, with the squad not yet fully assembled less than 48 hours before their first match.
