‎Members of the Tijjani Umar-led Nigeria Basketball Federation, NBBF family have expressed shock but with submission to the will of God the death of one of their own, Lawan Garba early Monday.

‎In a statement shortly after Garba’s demise was made public, the group said that Garba popular called ‘Larry’ would be missed for his kindness, generosity and laughter.

‎”We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of our beloved brother, Lawan Garba. May Allah forgive him and grant him the highest place in paradise.

‎Lawan was a beautiful soul who touched the lives of everyone he met. His kindness, generosity, and infectious laughter will never be forgotten. He was a true teammate and friend, and his absence will be deeply felt.

‎May Allah grant us the strength to bear this painful loss and may Lawan’s soul rest in peace. We will miss him dearly, but we take comfort in the knowledge that he is now at peace”, the statement read.

‎Before he fell sick, Garba was concerned about the inactivity in the NBBF owing to the leadership’s refusal to call for an elective Congress for the installation of a new board.

‎”I think this election issue should be done away with so that we have a new board for the effective running of basketball programmes”, he had said.
