FIFA ranking: Super Falcons move up one step despite inaction

by Patrick Omorodion

Ten-time African champions the Super Falcons rose by a spot in the latest FIFA Ranking released yesterday despite being inactive during this month’s international break.

The Super Falcons are now 36th best team in the world, but remain No 1 in Africa.

South Africa are second best team in Africa and 58th in the world, Ghana third on the continent and 59th in the world, while Morocco are 62nd in the world and fourth in Africa.

Zambia’s Copper Queens are fifth best in Africa and 64th globally.

Proposed friendlies against Cape Verde this month were cancelled at the last minute and so the Super Falcons were not engaged during the international break.

Last month, they used the international break to play two friendlies against Cameroon in Yaounde, winning one and losing the other.

Women world cup defending champions Spain however remain number one in the world with 2083.09 points closely followed by USA and England 2054.65 and 2038.72 in that order respectively.
