‎
‎Teranger Lions of Senegal Friday clawed the Iraqi national team to shreds by 5-0 in their last group match to brighten their chances of making it to the round of 32 at the ongoing 2026 World Cup.

‎This is as France consolidated their leadership of  Group I with a 4-1 spanking of Norway courtesy of a sparkling hat-trick by Ballon d’Or winner, Ousmane Dembele.

‎Senegal are now the highest third placed team in position five among the best eight losers expected to qualify for the round of 32.
‎They are on three points with a plus two goals difference.

France became the second team after co-host Mexico to finish on the maximum nine points after winning all three group matches.
