Organisers of the Nigeria Cup Golf Tournament have promised a carnival-like experience, featuring premium entertainment and top-class golfing competition, as the prestigious event enters its 29th edition.
Chairman of the 2026 Nigeria Cup Organising Committee, Mohamed Oyibo, made the disclosure yesterday at the pre-tournament press conference held at the Golf Section of Ikoyi Club 1938, Lagos.
Oyibo said this year’s tournament, tagged “Born of Legacy, Built for Greatness,” would go beyond competitive golf to provide a platform for sportsmanship, networking, entertainment and corporate hospitality.
He said the organisers were determined to raise the standard of the tournament and set a new benchmark for competitive amateur golf and sporting excellence in Nigeria.
“This year’s Nigeria Cup is going to be carnival-like, a mini festival as we look forward to the nation’s Independence anniversary,” Oyibo said.
According to him, the traditional golf fairways will be transformed into a vibrant hospitality hub throughout the tournament, with participants and guests expected to enjoy a mix of sporting and entertainment activities.
He disclosed that the tournament would feature specialised game days for children, caddies, ladies and veterans, while professional golfers would also participate in the competition.
The tournament will culminate in the Grand Finale on Saturday, September 26, which is expected to attract golfers and guests from across the country.
Oyibo also announced additional attractions for this year’s edition, including a Championship Watch Party and a formal Legacy Gala scheduled for Sunday evening.
He noted that major corporate brands and premium lifestyle partners had thrown their weight behind the tournament, further enhancing its appeal.
While commending members of the organising committee for their commitment and hard work, Oyibo expressed appreciation to the corporate sponsors, partners and individual donors whose support, he said, had contributed to the growth and sustainability of the Nigeria Cup over the years.
The 29th edition of the Nigeria Cup Golf Tournament is scheduled to take place from September 19 to 27, 2026, at the iconic Ikoyi Club 1938 Golf Section, Lagos.
The tournament is organised by the Ikoyi Golf Community Nigeria Association, IGCNA, as part of activities to commemorate Nigeria’s Independence Anniversary.

The Nigeria Cup has over the years grown into one of the notable golf events on the Nigerian sporting calendar, bringing together amateur and professional golfers, corporate executives, sponsors and other stakeholders.
