Top African table tennis nations, Nigeria and Egypt will headline the 2025 ITTF African Championships in Tunis from October 12 to 19, as teams compete for qualification to the 2026 ITTF World Team Championships in London.
The tournament serves as the continent’s qualifier for the centenary edition of the World Championships, returning to London 100 years after the first event in 1926.
In the men’s and women’s categories, Nigeria and Egypt are favourites, but face competition from over a dozen countries, including Tunisia, Algeria, South Africa, Uganda, and Madagascar. Only the top teams will secure spots in London.
The 2026 Championships will feature 64 teams per gender, up from 40, and be held at London’s Copper Box Arena and Wembley Arena from April 28 to May 10.
Nigeria and Egypt, long-time continental rivals, are expected to clash again in Tunis, with both aiming to stamp their authority ahead of the global showpiece.
