NFF technical director Augustine Eguavoen has dismissed as “rumours” plans for him to take over the Super Eagles from coach Eric Chelle in the event that the team failed to qualify for next year’s World Cup.
“I have a very good working relationship with coach Eric Chelle and I have absolutely no interest in taking over the squad,” Eguavoen said in an official statement from the NFF.
The technical director, who maintained that he is praying for Eric Chelle to succeed, said speculations like this caused disaffection when Gernot Rohr and Jose Peseiro were also in charge of the Super Eagles.
Eguavoen, 60, has thus far headed the Super Eagles four times.
