Following their recent resurgence in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, the Super Eagles climbed up four places in the men’s ranking released on Friday.
The Super Eagles upward climb is no doubt the result of their recent wins against Lesotho, and Benin Republic that shot them to number two of their world Cup qualifying group.
As at last month, they were ranked 45th in the world and sixth in Africa but they gained four steps in October to become the 41st best nation in the world and fifth in Africa.
They are behind Morocco, Senegal, Egypt and Algeria.
Meanwhile Spain maintained top spot in the ranking, with former long-term leaders Argentina back up to second and France dropping one place to third.
The Three Lions of England, and Portugal are in the top five.
