President of the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, Ibrahim Gusau has denied influencing the choice of players for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, Prompt News reports.
Super Eagles head coach, Eric Chelle on Thursday unveiled his final 28-man squad for the biennial competition.
The final squad was met with some criticisms and accusations following the exclusion of notable names like Maduka Okoye, Terem Moffi, Tolu Arokodare and Nathan Tella.
Gusau said the NFF has never interfered in the job of the technical crew.
“People should be careful about what is going on, especially on social media,” Gusau said during an interview with Eagle FM.
“The environment is highly polluted. A lot of agents are everywhere.
“I will never tell a coach to pick this player or that player. I have never stayed in one hotel with the national team since I became the President.
I don’t want to be a distraction.”
