After beating Bafana Bafana on Sunday night, Cameroon players will each receive at least half a million rand in bonuses.

Cameroon secured a place in the quarter-finals of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations after dumping South Africa out of the tournament.

The Indomitable Lions claimed a 2–1 victory over Bafana Bafana in the round of 16, bettering their previous showing at the competition after exiting at the same stage in the 2023 edition.

This achievement has earned each Cameroon player a bonus of 18,180,000 FCFA (approximately R545,400, about N50m).

According to Actu Cameroun, Mouelle Kombi, the Minister of Sports and Physical Education, said in a statement: “Congratulations to the Indomitable Lions who, thanks to their victory against South Africa’s Bafana Bafana, have just reached the quarterfinals of the competition.

“As further encouragement and motivation, the Ministry of Sports and Physical Education, on behalf of the State, has just ordered the payment of their qualification and victory bonuses, totalling 18,180,000 FCFA per player.

“Long live winning Cameroon!”

Cameroon will now face hosts Morocco in the quarter-finals as they bid for their first AFCON title since lifting the trophy in 2017 under current Bafana Bafana head coach Hugo Broos.

Man of the Match against Bafana Bafana, Carlos Baleba, said he is already looking ahead to Friday’s clash against Morocco.

“Regarding the next match, we know that Morocco is a good team, a great footballing nation.

“As we have been doing from the start, we will keep our heads cool and watch videos of Morocco to try and stop them from playing in order to win the match.”
