Arne Slot has urged Liverpool to take confidence from their win over Arsenal in August as they push to make this season a success.
A stunning free-kick from Dominik Szoboszlai gave Liverpool a 1-0 win at Anfield in August as the defending champions started their campaign with seven straight wins in all competitions.
Results have tailed off badly since then and Liverpool now trail Arsenal by 14 points ahead of their trip to north London tonight.
Slot admitted in his pre-match press conference that momentum is on Arsenal’s side, but he insisted there were reasons to believe Liverpool could pick up a victory to potentially turn their season around.
“It would mean a lot because if you win games like these, it tells you that you can compete in the latter stages of the FA Cup and the Champions League,” Slot said.
“We’ve shown that we can do this already because we have already beaten Arsenal at home, and I can also come up with many other games that we’ve won against many other strong teams.
“We know that it is going to be a very special game for them as well, so we are going to have to be completely ready for it.
“They have a very positive vibe around them at the moment, and it is obvious that we aren’t because we conceded another late goal last time out.”
