The golf event of the Nigeria Oil and Gas Industry Games holds today in Port Harcourt in commemoration of the Nigerian Army Remembrance Day.

Chairman of the technical committee of NOGIG 2026, Tayo Akande told Sports Vanguard that it was decided that the event held today as a way of identifying with the military and appreciate their enormous contributions to the peace and security of the country, particularly, in the Niger Delta that forms a critical zone for the industry.

“We are bringing a high military officer to take the ceremonial tee off as a way of honouring them for their efforts in enhancing the development of the oils and Gas sector in the country,” Akande said, adding that “their contributions cannot be quantified in monetary terms.

Meanwhile results from the preliminaries of the football event of NOGIG 2026 indicate that the Petroleum Training Institute lost 0 – 1 to the defending champions NCDMB, while NNPC whitewashed OANDO 3-0.

In other matches NLNG continued their winning streak with a 2-1 spanking of Renaissance while NMDPRA were 2-0 better over Chevron.
Today is rest day for football, which will be rounded off tomorrow.
