Rivers United head coach, Finidi George yesterday failed to deliver in his pre-match assurance that they will secure the maximum three points in their Matchday 4 CAF Champions League encounter against visiting Power Dynamos of Zambia in Uyo.
While speaking ahead of the crucial encounter, Finidi acknowledged his team’s modest return so far but stressed that the focus is firmly on winning, especially with the match taking place at home, at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo.
“This is our fourth game and we are playing at home,” Finidi said. “We played this same team last week, so it’s still fresh in our memories.
Both teams settled for a scoreless first half but the Zambians got their goal through their defender Kondwani Chiboni five minutes into the second half and held on to it till the final whistle.
The Finidi-tutored side piled pressure on Power Dynamos, dominated the game with 20 shots on goal as against seven from the visitors but couldn’t find the net.
With the loss, Rivers United are stuck at the bottom of the Group A table with the solitary point they got in the 0-0 draw with Power Dynamos last week
