Super Eagles coach, Eric Chelle has said he will feature new foreign-based pros as well as players from the NPFL at next month’s invitational Unity Cup in London as he begins to rebuild the team after they failed to qualify for this year’s World Cup.

The Super Eagles will be defending the Unity Cup they won under him beginning with an opening clash against Zimbabwe on May 26.

Eric Chelle said ahead of the Unity Cup: “The Unity Cup provides a platform to assess new players.

“I will comb Europe and invite players of Nigerian descent , alongside those who were previously called up but never got the chance to feature.

“Top players from the Nigerian Premier League will also be considered as I will be watching a number of domestic league games from now until the end of the season.”

However, for the friendlies against Poland and Portugal in June, Eric Chelle disclosed he will play his first-team squad.

“For the big warm-up games in June against Poland and Portugal, I will feature my first-team players,” he said.

“These are games that can push us up the global rankings if we won them.”

Nigeria are currently 26th in the FIFA rankings.
