Edo Queens Football Club have affirmed their readiness to confront all oppositions in their continental battles as they praised Governor Monday Okpebholo and the Chairman of Edo State Sports Commission Hon. Amadin Desmond Enabulele, for their unwavering support throughout the 2025/26 Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL), premiership season.
After an astonishing performance in the just concluded league season where they emerged the Premiership champions, the players and their officials said they are thanking the government and the entire people of Edo State for their huge support.
The team’s tactician Moses Aduku, the General Manager,Rollanson Odeh, tte club’s captain Deborah Odiagbe, the highest goal scorer of the season, Atume Doosuur and others poured encomium on the entire management for their supportive rolls in the club’s successes.
The resilient Edo Queens ladies, were crowned champions of the Nigeria Women Football League NWFL premiership after their conquest in Port Harcourt.
Coach Aduku said: “It can only be God. And all glory goes to Him. As a united team, I say we are so happy for a dream come true. We worked tirelessly for it and prayed to God to help us, He heard our prayers and crowned our efforts with success so we are returning all glory to Him.”
”For our chief sponsor, His Excellency Senator Monday Okpebholo, the Executive Governor of Edo State, on behalf of the entire team I thank him so very much for his huge support. Words are not enough to thank him. I pray for more wisdom for him and promise that we won’t disappoint the state as we prepare to represent Nigeria at the Continental level”.
”Moreso, I want to especially thank our Chairman Hon. Amadin Desmond Enabulele, for his unwavering support. He was there for us from the beginning till the last day we lifted the trophy in Port Harcourt. So may God continue to bless him. On behalf of the entire squad I say thank you sir.”
The captain Deborah Odiagbe said:
”In fact I’m the happiest player in the team. I want to thank the Governor, the sports loving commission chairman, Hon. Amadin Desmond Enabulele, in fact I call him our father. His role in this great journey to success cannot be over emphasized. Sir we appreciate you and thank you a million times.”
“I want to also thank my teammates for believing in themselves, their resilient spirit, the unity and understanding that drove us this far. I want to urge us to continue with this winning mentality that is already embedded in us. We are going for an uphill task now, nothing should set us apart. We are prepare to conquer Africa. Our eyes are on the prestigious CAF Women’s Champions Trophy.”
Atume Doosuur, ” I’m so happy to be in Edo Queens, first and foremost I want to thank God and the amiable chairman of the Sports Commission Hon. Amadin Desmond Enabulele, members of his Executive, our coaches, fans, my colleagues, and all football stakeholders in the State for their support.”
”We are happy to end the season without a major setback. Edo Queens is on course, we know the challenges ahead and we are ready for it. We want to win double, we are ready for the continental show piece.”
On her scoring prowess she said: ” It is God. I always prayed to God to help my team. We have ended the season as champions of the NWFL but it is not yet Uhuru, the big fight is coming, that is the WAFU-B. My prayer is that God will give Edo Queens FC victory over all opponents. Our dream is to win the CAF Champions League.”
