Reigning Champions of the Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) for 2025/26 season Edo Queens Football Club of Benin have commenced closed camping programme as part of the activities lined up by the club’s management to put the team in shape for the forthcoming 2025/26 WAFU-B CAF Women’s Champions League qualifiers showpiece in Burkina Faso.
Recall that after a supremacy battle between two arch- rival sides Edo Queens and Bayelsa Queens in the super six a match played under a baking pressure, in the 2025/2026 Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL), premiership season, Edo Queens emerged champions and by right qualified to represent Nigeria at the CAF Women’s Champions League fiesta.
The WAFU- B qualifiers will be held in Burkina Faso in August
As former WAFU- B champions in 2023/2024 season, the expectation is high giving recent ratings and achievement of the club.
Now that they are the reigning team of the moment who are the representatives of Nigeria at the Continental stage, it is expedient for all hands to be on desk so that the task of conquering other teams at the WAFU- B level and the competition proper will easily be achieved.
A critical look at the team shows total confidence and satisfaction that with the strength of the squad and their exploits in the Super six, shows that the team are already capable of competing at the highest level.
The club’s internal view is that the squad is ready to win major trophies without needing a dramatic overhaul before the new season begins. Also for the purpose of competing favourably in the Continental stage, one or two players might likely be added to beef up some areas of the team.
As they commence intensive build-up for the Continental cracker, the overall feeling appears to be confidence and concern, as Coach Moses Aduku has an excellent crops of players to work with.
For the entire squad, the expectation is high, therefore the club’s confidence should be seen as a vote of faith in both the players and the new project.
According to the General Manager Rollanson Odeh, he said:
“We thank God for coming this far. As reigning champions of the NWFL premiership, we are Nigeria’s representatives at the forthcoming CAF Women’s Champions League, and to participate, we must first of all take part in the WAFU- B zonal qualifiers which is taking place in Burkina Faso in August.”
“We have commenced a closed camping programme for the players, we needed to put everything in proper shape because we are not going there for a jamboree. No team is a pushover in present day football. We must work extra hard.
It is not business as usual. All hands must be on desk, the on- field understanding of the team, has been one of the biggest success stories of the team. So it is my belief that we would thrive together and get the best results in Burkina Faso and beyond.”
“I will not conclude this chat without saying a big thank you to my boss Hon. Amadin Desmond Enabulele the Executive Chairman of Edo State Sports Commission who has worked tirelessly to ensure we get to this level.
On behalf of Edo Queens family I want to say thank you to him, and also tell him that it is not yet Uhuru. This is the time we needed him the most. We are very happy with the huge support, we want him to continue to support us and God will surely reward him abundantly. I promise him that Edo Queens will go to the continent

Enabulele
and conquer by His grace.”
