Crisis is rocking Super Eagles opponents in the 2027 AFCON qualifiers, Guinea-Bissau as the President of their Football Federation, Carlos Alberto Mendez Texeira, has reportedly become the subject of legal proceedings over allegations including money laundering, embezzlement, forgery and the use of forged documents.
According to French investigative journalist Romain Molina, an arrest warrant has reportedly been issued against the football administrator in connection with the allegations.
Molina disclosed the development in a post on his official social media account, citing the alleged legal action against the Guinea-Bissau football federation chief.
However, the allegations have not been independently confirmed by major international news agencies or an official statement from Guinea-Bissau’s judicial authorities.
Lopes should therefore be presumed innocent unless and until a court establishes otherwise.
The development comes at a sensitive time for Guinea-Bissau football, with the country’s football federation facing increased scrutiny following recent issues surrounding its national teams.
