Chaos in the Ring boxers
Chaos in the ring is set for another major spotlight as Balmoral Promotions, led by Dr. Ezekiel Adamu, prepares to stage the Independence Day edition of the boxing spectacle on October 1.
Organisers of the boxing event, Balmoral Promotions who disclosed this Thursday at the Balmoral Convention Centre at Sheraton Hotel in Ikeja, said the event is aimed at promoting African boxing and providing local fighters with greater visibility and international exposure.
They added that the boxing spectacle is also expected to attract a wide audience through major broadcasting partnerships with DAZN and SuperSport.
According to Balmoral Promotions, the event is projected to reach more than 60 million households across Africa and beyond, further strengthening its position as one of the continent’s emerging sports entertainment platforms.
The boxing event vent will feature a combination of professional championship bouts and celebrity boxing contests, with the organisers promising an action-packed night for boxing fans.
The headline bout which is tagged the “Jollof derby”, is set to play host to two of Africa’s leading light-heavyweight contenders, Ghanaian fighter, Freezy and Nigeria’s Godday, as they square off in what is expected to be a highly competitive clash.
Also on the card is a WBO lightweight title fight between rising Under-20 star Ejomoni and Basit Adebayo. Other professional bouts will feature unbeaten knockout artist Lekan Muibi, who boasts a 19-0 record, against Ezera Arenyeka, while Yusuf Adeniji and Taiwo are also scheduled to compete.
In the celebrity category, defending champion Carter Efe will face Speedy Darlington in one of the evening’s most anticipated encounters.
The event will also feature live betting engagement through Bet9ja, adding another dimension to the fan experience.
Speaking on the vision behind the event, organiser Dr. Adamu said the focus was not necessarily on perfection but on maintaining momentum and building a platform capable of taking African boxing to the global stage.
”Even in the boxing world as well, I think about 60 to 70% of boxers in global boxing are all Africans. Even if they don’t represent Africa, but they’re all Africans. There are a lot of Anthony Joshuas walking around the streets of Lagos. There’s another Godday in Bayelsa. There’s more Freezy in Kumasi.
And for us, it’s about showcasing the best of this talents to the global audience. We have DAZN, who is the global home of boxing, backing us as well, too. So, this is another step in the right direction in terms of what we’re building”.
Dr. Adamu said plans are already in place to host intercontinental title fights and bring world-class champions to Nigeria.
The event with its blend of professional boxing, celebrity entertainment, global broadcast exposure and commercial partnerships, Chaos in the Ring is positioning itself as a major platform for showcasing African boxing talent and strengthening the continent’s presence on the international boxing scene.
