Brentford striker Kaye Furo has been named the Premier League 2 Player of the Month for August 2026, beating two other players of Nigerian descent, Chibby Nwoko (Fulham) and Trey Samuel-Ogunsuyi (Sunderland), to the accolade.

Also nominated for the award were Josh Landers (West Ham United), Jayden Quashie (Fulham), Carrick Njinko (Leeds United), Luke Howard (Reading) and Jayden Kamason (Manchester United).

Kaye is the son of former Super Eagles centre-back Iyenemi Furo, who starred for Nigeria at the 2000 Africa Cup of Nations.

Iyenemi started five of the six games contested by the Super Eagles during the 2000 Afcon, which was jointly hosted by Nigeria and Ghana.

A Belgium U21 international, Kaye Furo beat the other contenders to the Premier League 2 Player of the Month award following his blistering start to the season.

The 19-year-old needed just six minutes to score Brentford’s first goal of the new Premier League 2 season in a 3-2 win at Stoke City before bagging a stunning hat-trick and providing an assist in a 5-1 victory over Sunderland.

Kaye Furo transferred to the Bees in the January transfer window, signing a deal until June 30, 2031.

Since his arrival at the Gtech Community Stadium, he has received 15 call-ups to first-team matchday squads and went on to feature in three games, including making his Premier League and FA Cup debuts.
