Egyptian football administrator Khaled Nassar has been selected to head the Confederation of African Football (CAF) Competitions Department.
Nassar succeeds Nigeria’s Samson Adamu, who was appointed acting General Secretary of CAF following the resignation of Véron Mosengo-Omba of the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Adamu previously headed the CAF Competitions Department, where he played a key role in the organisation and coordination of the continent’s major football competitions.
His appointment as acting General Secretary created a vacancy in the department, paving the way for Nassar to take over the responsibility.

Nassar will now oversee CAF’s competition-related activities as the continental football governing body continues preparations for its upcoming tournaments.
