The Senator representing Kwara Central Senatorial district, Senator Saliu has once again received commendation for his contributions to the development of sports in general.
The Senator was honoured and recognised at the 2024 Media Games of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Kwara State Chapter, which was held at the Kwara Football Academy pitch on Thursday.
Represented by his aide, Barrister Abdulkareem Alabi, the Kwara SWAN games, which saw members of the body compete against each other across different sporting events climaxed with a football friendly match between the body and Veterans FC and presentation of awards to distinguished personalities including winners of the contest across the competitions.
Speaking on behalf of the Senator, Barrister Abdulkareem described Kwara SWAN as conveyor belt for promoting sports, which is one of the major tools for youth development and empowerment.
He said ” Sports Journalists play critical role in the promotion of sports and athletes in the society, and for their strategic role in doing this, we will continue to support them and all their activities” he said.
Amongst many other interventions, the lawmaker recently supported the YUCATECO Boxing promotion tournament held at Emir’s Palace in Ilorin and the Ilorin Fitness Festival.
One of the high points of the event was also the presentation of Abdul Momoh Photography Ambassadorial Award to Senator Saliu Mustapha for his immeasurable impacts on societal development.
