Former captain of the Super Eagles captain Austin Okocha, has said Nigerians should support new coach Eric Chelle because it is important Nigeria feature at next year’s World Cup.
Multiple reports had quoted Okocha as going against the appointment of the former Mali coach.
But the former PSG midfielder stated that the decision to appoint Eric Chelle was that of the NFF and the results of the Super Eagles under him will determine whether or not it was the best decision.
“The decision to appoint the new coach was that of the NFF,” Okocha told Lagos Talks FM
“We should give him a chance to do his job.
“We should support him as well as the NFF and hopefully we will be at the World Cup.
“We all want the team to qualify for the World Cup because we all benefit when they are doing well.”
He added: “This is a results business. If we don’t qualify, God forbid, he will be the first to know he has failed.”
